Dennis Whitaker continues his tradition of many years by once again serving as a volunteer Judge at the Jeffrey G. Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition (NELMCC) at Pace Law School’s Elisabeth Haub School of Law in White Plains, NY. Dennis will hear arguments on this year’s appellate problem in environmental law for the three preliminary rounds and the quarterfinal round on February 21-22. NELMCC is the centerpiece of the law school’s environmental law program, ranked fourth nationally by US News and World Report. It is the largest interschool moot court competition of any kind under one roof, and it regularly draws 200 competitors from law schools from all over the nation. NELMCC is highly competitive and has tremendous educational value, and has established a national standard of excellence in moot court competitions. It provides an intellectual workout for competitors through complex legal analysis of today’s thorny environmental issues. Competitors research and analyze the issues before writing persuasive arguments for one party advocating how the issues should be resolved. Competitors are then required to argue the issues orally for all three parties, rounding out the rigorous academic experience.
